In Trincomalee, a naval patrol vessel was attacked while inspecting a suspicious fishing boat in the Koneshwaram sea. The incident occurred when marines, deployed to curb illegal activities at sea, approached the fishing vessel. The assailants used lead weights and stones from the boat’s nets to assault the marines before fleeing.
As a result, a marine from the Nilaveli Vijayaba Naval Base sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Trincomalee General Hospital. The Trincomalee Port Police are conducting a thorough investigation to apprehend the suspects involved in this attack.
