The Cabinet has approved the completion of the Nanu Oya Railway Station Modernization Project, as proposed by Minister of Tourism and Lands Harin Fernando. Originally budgeted at 74.63 million rupees, the project’s costs have escalated to 101.81 million rupees due to increased construction material prices. This approval allows for sourcing the additional funds from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority and the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.
In a meeting dated 04-03-2023, the Cabinet endorsed the implementation of the project, which aims to modernize Nanu Oya railway station. The Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB), upon recommendation from the Sri Lanka Railway Department, will oversee the project’s execution.
