In a landmark development for school rugby in Sri Lanka, insurance coverage has been provided for the first time to school rugby players. This initiative, available to under-19 and under-16 rugby players in schools that participate in the sport, is facilitated by the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation.

Furthermore, to enhance the capabilities of the Sri Lanka Rugby Referee Association, a financial grant of 50 lakh rupees has been allocated. This funding, supervised by Minister Harin Fernando, is aimed at improving the training, skills, and technology for referees.

In another significant move, the Henry Pedris Stadium, which was assigned to Colombo Isipathana College by a cabinet decision, was officially handed over to the school by the Sports Minister Harin Fernando.

Additionally, a financial award of 10 lakhs was presented to H.I.C. De Soysa of St. Joseph’s College, who suffered an accident during the school rugby tournament last year.
