The Department of Meteorology has forecasted an increase in rainfall in the south-western regions of Sri Lanka, starting tomorrow, July 12.

According to the department, showers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the districts of Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara.

Additionally, the Eastern and Uva provinces may experience rain or thundershowers in some areas during the evening or night.

The department also noted that strong winds, ranging between 40-50 km/h, could affect the western slopes of the central hills, as well as the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces, and the districts of Trincomalee, Hambantota, and Monaragala.

Residents are advised to take precautions to minimize risks associated with temporary strong winds and lightning during thunderstorms.
