In a decisive move, Northern Province Governor P.M.S. has mandated the immediate closure of women and children’s homes in Thellipalai, Jaffna. This action follows reports of serious misconduct including improper installation of CCTV cameras capturing inappropriate scenes within the premises of both an unregistered children’s home and a women’s facility.
The decision comes in response to multiple complaints received by the Children and Probation Unit, prompting a thorough investigation which confirmed the validity of these allegations. A committee assigned to probe the matter has substantiated the claims, leading the Governor to direct the Commissioner of the Probation and Child Welfare Department to swiftly shut down these establishments and initiate legal proceedings against those responsible.
