In a significant update, the Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association has confirmed a reduction in bus passenger fares, marking a proactive step towards affordability. Chairman Mr. Gemunu Wijesinghe made the official announcement during a press conference earlier today, June 28.
Effective July 1, bus fares will undergo a notable decrease of five percent, with the minimum fare adjusting to Rs 28. This decision follows extensive consultations between the association, Minister Bandula Gunawardena, and other key stakeholders, aiming to streamline annual fare revisions for the benefit of commuters.
The adjustment underscores the association’s commitment to providing accessible transport solutions amid evolving economic dynamics.
