The Ceylon Teachers’ Union has announced a nationwide strike today, with teachers and principals reporting sick leave. The union’s General Secretary, Mr. Joseph Stalin, stated that all teachers and principals are being called to Colombo for a large-scale protest.

Many schools across the country have informed students to stay home as educators participate in the strike. This action coincides with the start of the second school term, causing a significant disruption in educational activities.

The strike aims to address ongoing concerns within the education sector, bringing school operations to a halt as teachers and principals unite in their call for change.
