S.M. Marikkar, the media spokesperson for the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), has strongly denied reports suggesting that former President Maithripala Sirisena has joined the Samagi Jana Sandanaya. According to Marikkar, such claims are unfounded and part of a broader campaign of misinformation.
Marikkar clarified that there is no intention or necessity for the Samagi Jana Sandanaya to align with Sirisena or seek his support. He accused pro-government propaganda groups of spreading false news as they face imminent defeat in the upcoming presidential election.
The SJB urges the public to remain vigilant against misleading media operations by the government and various candidates involved in deal politics aimed at undermining Sajith Premadasa. The party emphasizes the importance of discerning accurate information during this critical election period.
