Supreme Court Declares Revocation of Harin Fernando and Manusha Nanayakkara’s Party Membership Illegal

The Supreme Court has declared the decision to revoke the party membership of Harin Fernando and Manusha Nanayakkara as illegal. The court’s decision stems from the fact that Fernando and Nanayakkara, who entered Parliament representing the Samagi Jana Balawega (SJB), assumed ministerial positions in the government, contrary to the party’s decision.

The two politicians had challenged the SJB’s executive board’s decision to cancel their party membership by filing a case in the Supreme Court. The court’s ruling overturns the revocation, affirming the legitimacy of their party affiliation despite their current governmental roles.
