The Election Commission has confirmed that deposit funds have been submitted for Ranil Wickremesinghe, who will run as an independent candidate in the 2024 presidential election.
Following the announcement of the presidential election today at 8:30 a.m., candidates are allowed to deposit their security funds until 12 noon on August 14, 2024, a day prior to the nomination deadline of August 15, 2024.
The commission specified that a deposit of Rs. 50,000 is required for candidates nominated by a recognized political party, while a deposit of Rs. 75,000 is required for those nominated by any other political party or electorate.
