Child Abuse Case in Aranayaka: Two Women Arrested for Assault

A disturbing case of child abuse has come to light in Aranayaka, Mawanella, where a six-year-old child has reportedly been subjected to severe physical abuse by two women, including his mother. According to neighbors, the child, who has not been attending school despite being of age, has allegedly been enduring brutal assaults day and night.

The incident gained attention after a video surfaced on social media showing the child being violently dragged and beaten outside his home. Following public outcry, the Aranayaka Police received a complaint and promptly arrested the child’s mother and another woman accused of encouraging the abuse. They were brought before the Mawanella Magistrate’s Court.

Authorities have confirmed that the child, now under the custody of his father, has been admitted to Mawanella Base Hospital for medical treatment. The suspects have reportedly confessed to the police that the assaults were prompted by the child’s disobedience.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing, with authorities focusing on ensuring the child’s safety and well-being.
