The Karapitiya Teaching Hospital has been reclassified and officially renamed as the Galle National Hospital, as announced by Dr. P.G. Mahipala, Secretary of the Ministry of Health.
Dr. Mahipala highlighted that the hospital achieved high ratings for meeting all the necessary criteria to be classified as a national hospital. The reclassification was approved by the Cabinet, marking a significant milestone in the country’s healthcare system.
This establishment of the Galle National Hospital makes it the third national hospital in Sri Lanka, enhancing the nation’s medical infrastructure and services.
