Two monks arrested for cannabis possession at Gampaha Railway Station

GAMPAHA – Officers from the Gampaha Division Crime Investigation Bureau have apprehended two monks, dressed in hooded robes, near the public toilets of the Gampaha railway station. The monks were found in possession of cannabis.

Upon further questioning, it was revealed that the two monks, aged 20 and 25, are university students from the Colombo area. Both individuals are monks from a temple in the Ganemulla area.

The police discovered 120 milligrams of cannabis with one monk and 100 milligrams with the other. Their luggage also contained monastic robes.

The arrested monks have been handed over to the Gampaha police and will be presented in Gampaha court for further legal proceedings.
