A high-tech water meter valued at approximately 30 million rupees, belonging to the Irrigation Department, was discovered beneath the Hanwella bridge by a Navy diving team. This sophisticated device, which includes GPS technology, is used to monitor the Kelani River’s water levels, speed, and direction. It was washed away due to severe weather conditions. The Navy undertook this recovery mission at the request of the Irrigation Department.
