During a search operation conducted in the vicinity of Sirithoppuwa beach in Mannar on 10 Sep 25, the Sri Lanka Navy thwarted an attempt to smuggle 91 birds and apprehended 02 suspects and a dinghy employed for this illegal act.
The suspects held in this operation were identified as residents of Pesalai and Mannar, aged 17 and 52.
The suspects together with the birds and the dinghy were handed over to the Pesalai Police for onward legal action.
