If Donald Trump wins the next election, he promises to form a government efficiency commission led by Elon Musk. During his speech at the New York Economic Club, Trump detailed his proposed economic policies, which included lowering corporate taxes for American manufacturing, establishing a sovereign wealth fund, and designating “low-tax” areas on federal land for development.
Trump’s advisors had been debating the concept of an efficiency commission for weeks, but this was the first time he had formally supported it. Within six months, the commission would like to eradicate fraud and improper payments.
In a podcast released in August, Musk stated that he had discussed the commission with Trump and that he would be interested in taking the lead. Former Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, as well as businessmen John Paulson and Scott Bessent, were among Trump’s audience members.
