Despite rumors to the contrary, former president Chandrika Kumaratunga declared today that she would not support any contender in the 2024 presidential contest. She explained that it was inaccurate for media stories to imply that she supported a particular candidate.
Kumaratunga underlined that instead of focusing on specific politicians, voters should consider the platforms and policies that each one is offering. She emphasized that voters should think about the procedures, structures, and individuals in charge of carrying out these initiatives.
She advocated for international trade and tourism, as well as a significant focus on important sectors like education, health, small businesses, and agriculture. Additionally, Kumaratunga asked voters to demand the elimination of the Executive Presidency, honest governance, and the recruitment of highly qualified, morally-driven people to important posts in government.
