Ceylon Electricity Board Reports Significant Profit Growth for April-June Quarter

Following a successful performance despite significant tax payments, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has declared a large increase in its net profit for the April-June quarter of 2024.

After paying Rs. 34.53 billion in taxes, the CEB’s net profit for the period was Rs. 34.53 billion. Comparing this to the net profit of Rs. 20.65 billion recorded in the same quarter of the prior year, there has been a notable increase of 67.2%.

In contrast, the January–March quarter of 2024 had a net profit of Rs. 84.67 billion for the CEB. With a total profit of Rs. 119.20 billion for the first half of the year, the business has demonstrated strong financial performance and significant development.
