Urban Development and Housing Minister, Mr. Prasanna Ranatunga, has formally communicated to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa his support for Ranil Wickremesinghe in the forthcoming presidential election. In a letter addressed to Rajapaksa, Mr. Ranatunga expressed that the political board’s decision within the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) does not reflect the majority’s sentiment nor the party’s true intentions.
Despite his endorsement of Wickremesinghe, Mr. Ranatunga reaffirmed his loyalty to the SLPP and his admiration for Mr. Rajapaksa, wishing him a long and healthy life. He emphasized that his decision to support Wickremesinghe is driven by his conscience and the country’s best interests.
