The Consumer Affairs Authority has announced a reduction in the price of a 450-gram loaf of bread by 10 rupees. Shopkeepers who fail to display the new price will face legal action.
Authority Chairman, T.I. Uduwara, stated that investigation officers have been instructed to conduct raids to ensure compliance with the new pricing.
In related news, Colombo District Assistant Measurement Units, Standards & Services, Dilruk Pattiyapola, reported that legal action has been taken against 210 individuals for violations involving legal weighing and measuring equipment during raids conducted from January to the present.
