The government has announced special leave for employees who were unable to report to work due to floods, landslides, and road blockages in May and June. This leave applies to government officials in the districts of Colombo, Kalutara, Gampaha, Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Puttalam, Kurunegala, Polonnaruwa, Kegalle, and Ratnapura.
The special leave is available to those who were unable to report to work due to the suspension of public transport services or were directly affected by these disasters, including those who were displaced. The relevant circular has been issued by Mr. Pradeep Yasarathne, Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs and Provincial Councils.
