Today marks the commencement of the distribution of Presidential scholarships at the district level, aimed at supporting students from low-income families across grades one to eleven.
Recently, scholarships for the Colombo district were distributed at the Temple Trees under the guidance of President Ranil Wickramasinghe. The Presidential Media Division has announced that scholarships for the remaining 24 districts will be distributed across the island starting today.
Here’s the schedule for the upcoming distributions:
- Hambantota district: July 12th and 15th
- Badulla, Matale, and Jaffna districts: July 13th
- Kilinochchi district: July 14th
- Gampaha district: July 16th and 17th
- Galle and Anuradhapura districts: July 15th
- Vavuniya, Batticaloa, Ratnapura, Kegalle, and Nuwara Eliya districts: July 16th
District secretaries, in collaboration with zonal education offices and school principals, will oversee the scholarship distribution in phases, with only a portion of recipients invited to each ceremony initially.
