Disabled Soldier Arrested for Attacking MP Mayadunne

Puttalam District Member of Parliament Chinthaka Amal Mayadunne faced an unexpected incident during a musical performance at the Vanathavilluwa Regional Council Public Stadium on July 6th. A 52-year-old disabled retired army soldier from the audience threw a water bottle at the MP when he took the stage to sing.

Fortunately, MP Mayadunne was unharmed. The MP’s security personnel quickly detained the suspect and handed him over to the police.

The MP has initiated an investigation with the Vanathavilluwa police, reporting that the suspect had previously attended events featuring another MP and had repeatedly threatened and insulted him.

The suspect, identified as a member of another prominent political party, remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
