Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera announced yesterday that Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena has signed the new Electricity Act, which was recently passed by Parliament.
Effective immediately, the new Electricity Act will be implemented starting June 27. Minister Wijesekera emphasized the significance of this legislation in advancing the country’s energy sector.
